Ferris Wheel

A class poetry and design project
1.My students in groups of 5 were to create a poem with clues embedded into it that would allow a new group to build the described object.
2.Groups had one hour to create a poem and ensure that the object described could be built by other using KNex.
3.Each group that had an hour to build a given object based on the poem that another group wrote for them.
Ferris Wheel

By Kathy, Yukey, Madhavi,
Tony and Eric
Children like me, I am fun,
They spin and spin under the sun.

I am really really big,
Some people eat on me like a pig.
I'm usually located at the fair,
Get on me and we''l go high in the air.
I was invented long long ago,
But I am still loved, as you should know.
I'm featured in many hundreds of movies,
And in my day I've seen many loonies!
I go round and round all day long,
Am I square? That is wrong!
Onto a seat you should sit,
You won't be mad - you won't have a fit!
Who am I?

Tank

Tank
By Chenghao, Jayden, Kiyoaki, Yash, and Liam

In the midst of a ravaged battlefield,
Something big lumber's by,
You always need to be able to yield,
Or get ready to die,
The enemy's blood is painted around,
The beast gives no mercy,
You can feel it shaking the bloody ground,
Let the large giant be,
The fire of its guns is no match at all,
The beast will never miss,
Out of the front comes and explosive ball,
Easy to spot it is,
Though it's almost impossible to break,
The dark blood of its foe lies in its wake...

The King

The King
By Andy and Hugh
Help from Ty, Jacob, and Angus

Traumatized by the dark,
Affected by the light.
Notably deep and stark,
King of the shallow flight.

Thinking of that horrible strife,
Back before the day of peace.
Wandering the streets of life,
The King with the lonely fleece.

Him, the broken knight of doom,
Thanking death for death's retreat.
In turn, o'er the field I loom,
King himself admits defeat.

Teeming as nobody knew before,
Knitting nothing as tomorrow's quilt.
Too late, our world is destroyed to the core,
It's happened before, and the King rebuilt.

Drums Kit

Drum Kit
By Dallas, Christina, Tim, Nick, and Ceilidh

I keep time
Rhythm and rhyme
I like ice cream
And make everyone SCREAM
I crash, I ride
My skins are hide
I have a hat
My physique is quite fat
My friends are two toms
I am hated by moms
I'm used in a band
I snarl and stand
I make a big sound
Where am I found?

Clock

Clock
By Zyphlen, Zack, Billy, and Mason

This is the beginning of a poem that rhymes,
With my hands around I climb,
I can be round, I can be square,
Any shape, it's all fair.
I stay up all night,
I'm always right,
I'm in most homes,
Sounding like a metronome.
I wake you in the morning,
With a loud warning,
I'm able to drive you crazy,
If you happen to be lazy.
I'm hanging up on your wall,
And on a tower standing tall.
